RESIDENTS affected by the ongoing healthcare issues in Knutsford have been invited to speak to a new group set up by the town council.

On Monday, October 10, Knutsford Town Council agreed to set up a working group to establish the health care needs of the Knutsford public.

This working group will consist of four town councillors, two east Cheshire healthcare representatives, two representatives from the Central and East Cheshire PCT, and representatives from each of the three Knutsford GP surgeries.

This working group is inviting members of the public, in the form of various groups and individuals, for example, the Knutsford Town Plan, Stanley Day Care Centre users, Bexton Court users, Tatton Ward users, Knutsford GPs, to present to the working group for up to 15 minutes, with five minutes of questions on their needs.

Clr Andrew Malloy, a member of the new working group, told the Guardian the committee would look into all of the town’s existing health and social care facilities.

He said: “We feel this is Knutsford’s greatest opportunity to let their health care professionals know their requirements, and will allow residents, carers and patients to have real input into the consultation process amid much concern and confusion.

“The working group proposes to look at all of the town’s existing facilities, their current, past and future status and ability to provide that or a revised function into the future.

“Transport needs will also be examined, in particular if facilities are to move out of Knutsford.

“Future proposals shall also be examined and discussed.

“The aim is to present a report to Cheshire East and the Central and East Cheshire PCT before the end of the Cheshire East Council consultation period, which is the end of November/early December.”

Clr Malloy added that anyone who wishes to present to the working group should contact the town clerk Steve McQuade by email townclerk@knutsfordtown council.gov.uk or telephone 01565 653929 as soon as possible.
