A LIST of unsolved murders across Cheshire has been released by police, with three Knutsford cases still with no suspects.
Walter Albert Humphrey was found dead in Field House, Marthall in 1953, Harry Baker was found on the A50 at High Legh in 1958 and the body of Jackie Ansell Lamb was discovered in Mere in 1970.
18-year-old Jackie was last seen alive, hitch hiking Northbound at the start of the M1 Motorway at approximately 2.30pm on Sunday, March 8 in 1970. Six days later her body was found in a copse in Mere. A Home Office post mortem examination was carried out, which revealed that she had been strangled.
On January, 26 in 1953 at approximately 12.35am, Walter Albert Humphrey, 71, was working as a night watchman at a 24 hour garage on Manchester Road in Knutsford when he was struck from behind by a blunt instrument.
The perpetrators had attempted to remove a cash box from the garage but failed as it was secured to a shelf. Walter suffered trauma to the head and died later of shock and head injuries.
Harry Baker, 61, was found dead in a field near the A50 in High Legh. The location of his murder has never been established and there are no suspects.
Merseyside Police now have his case file.
In addition to the three crimes in Knutsford, the police also included details of unsolved cases from across the county which includes: Brenda Evans, 17, found in Chester in 1977; Leslie Alan Guntrip, 72, found in Winsford in 1978; Herbert Wilkinson, age unknown, found in Middlewich in 1967; Charles Raymond Jones, 42, and Julia Margaret Webb, 52, who were both found killed in Northwich in separate incidents in 1998, and 3-year-old Johnathan Ball and 12-year-old Timothy Parry who were killed in a bomb blast in Warrington the day before Mother’s Day in 1993.
