REGARDING the story about Cheshire East Council wanting to get more elderly people online.
While it is desirable for everyone to be online, it is not the answer to loneliness or the inability to get out and about and have contact with other human beings.
I feel sure Cllr Clowes would feel differently were she to be marooned at home, alone, unable to get out and about, with only her iPad for company.
Furthermore I cannot see the connection between supplying the elderly with IT knowledge and obviating the need for long term care as an isolated person does not necessarily need such care.
What is needed are proper organised programs to ensure that the elderly remain part of the community and do not feel cut off from the normal ordinary everyday activities we all enjoy.
