I WRITE regarding B Jackson’s letter, (Guardian, January 30) ‘I’m seeing treble over council poll’.

The possibilities of a council being taken over has a variation on that theme here in Mobberley.

Mobberley Parish Council is currently an unelected/co-opted group who are allowed to make decisions on parish matters as they see fit.

Further to this. Clr David Bailey, chairman, stated at a public meeting that those residents who do not own their own house ‘cannot speak, object or vote on parish matters’.

At the same time he informed a parish resident who was present that because of this she ‘could not even speak to him or address the meeting’.

Therefore, not only is our council not democratically elected, some residents of Mobberley are not even allowed to vote.

Written and verbal communications to the parish council do not elicit a reply.

It is interesting how democracy works in the 21st century. I wonder if these issues only apply in the Tatton constituency?
