IN answer to people’s concerns about potholes, buses and the Town Strategy please see the information below.

In December, I was sent a questionnaire from CEC to fill in on my satisfaction with road works, potholes etc.

I indicated my dissatisfaction with some aspects of the road repairs, especially the roads and pavements in the town centre. In January Michael Jones asked if I could meet with him and Kevin Melling, head of highways and transport, to walk round the town and look at the problems.

This meeting had to be cancelled by CEC, but another has been arranged when town councillors will meet with Michael Jones on February 27 to discuss highway problems and look at some of the highways and pavements. This will be followed by a public meeting at the town council offices at 4.30pm to give people the opportunity for Michael Jones to take and answer questions on the Town Strategy.

As regards the bus service in the Beggermans Lane area of the town, I am waiting a response from the CE Operations Manager as to whether High Peak Bus Company would consider sending the No 300 to replace those areas that will be no longer covered by the No 27.
