I NOTICE a lot of criticism has been published in the Knutsford Guardian about the Knutsford-Macclesfield bus route no longer taking the longer route via Beggarmans Lane from this month.
However, a couple of things seem to have been overlooked.
Firstly, the village of Ollerton will get a much improved service as a result of the revisions, and secondly, punctuality on the bus route is currently very poor, so taking the more direct route should improve that.
I do, however, appreciate the issue with the Beggarmans Lane area no longer having a bus service.
As Cheshire East Council can’t influence commercial bus services I would suggest the best they can do without introducing a new bus service is to revise the route for the 47 service when the contract comes up for renewal. The 09.40 Holmes Chapel-Knutsford-Warrington and 13.25 reverse working on Tuesdays and Friday could easily be re-routed via Beggarmans Lane.
There is also a long layover between the 10.55 Warrington-Knutsford bus station service and the 12.20 Knutsford bus station-Warrington service, so the 10.55 could be extended to Beggarmans Lane, with the 12.20 starting from Beggarmans Lane.
