EGERTON will be looking to get back on track this weekend after a disappointing cup exit.
The Yellows, who, like Knutsford FC, are early title contenders in Cheshire League One, bowed out of the JA Walton Challenge Cup at the first-round stage when losing to struggling Styal 1-0 on Saturday.
Egerton, fourth on the ladder only two points behind leaders FC St Helens Reserves but with three games in hand, fell to fourth-from-bottom Styal when Robert Black scored the only goal.
The Mereheath Lane outfit face another lowly outfit in the shape of third-from-bottom Wythenshawe Reserves this Saturday, kick-off 2pm at Egerton Youth Club.
Knutsford, who are a point ahead of Egerton but have played one more game, were not in action last weekend but continue their defence of the Cheshire Amateur Cup this Saturday.
Reds, who defeated higher-level Poynton 1-0 in April’s final, visit Vauxhall Motors to play Mallaby, kick-off 3.30pm.
Egerton are also through to the third round of this competition but are awaiting a trip to the winner’s of this Saturday’s contest between Winsford Town and Malpas.
Styal, with only three league wins to their name this season, host sixth-place Clay Brow on Saturday, kick-off 2pm.
SNOOKER: Tatton A lead the Knutsford and District Snooker League table table after the first quarter of the season thanks to their brilliant 6-1 victory over fellow challengers Morley Green that included a 41 break from Ian McHale.
Champions Shaw Heath are one point behind in second and Morley Green lie third, a further three points behind.
The three points earned by Tatton B was enough to see them climb off the bottom of the table despite a 4-3 defeat to Mobberley A, for whom Bruce Tulley scored 100 points in his frame.
In the final match, Heald Green A defeated Mere A 5-2.
Mobberley C sit top of Division Two on points difference following their 5-2 victory over Shaw Heath B despite a 22 break from Shaw Heath's Dave MacDonald.
Wilmslow Cons B also had a 5-2 win, theirs coming against Mobberley B.
