GOLFERS have been able to dodge the wet weather of late to be able to take part in club competitions.
A nine-hole stableford at Alderley Edge was won by Billy Bennett after a card play-off on 17 with Tom Ricketts, with the pair finishing on two more than Steve Bennett.
A seniors stableford at Alderley Edge was led in by Martin Stocker, 37, from Nick Banbury, 36, and Tony Steele, who won a cpo on 33 from four other players.
Edge women were in medal action with the 0-28 division won by Aileen Martin, 72, from Lesley Fowler, 74.
Vicky Burns was top of the 28 and over handicappers with 74 from Jean Walker, 75, and Fiona Anderson was the nine-hole winner with 13.
Styal seniors played a team-of-four stableford, with three to count, and the quartet of Stephen Atherton, C Beveridge, M O’Donovan and Dave Rice scorched to victory with 114, eight more than I Potts, M Mason, C Fellowes and Mike ‘Magic’ Hinde.
Atherton made his a double as he led in division one in a seniors stableford at Styal with 40, while behind him were Neil Cowan, 38, and David O’Neill, 37.
John Parr topped division two with 35 from Roger Hooley, 34, and Mike Ramsden and Jim Stokoe, both 32.
A stableford for Styal women was won by Jane Gaskell, 32, who pipped Helen Billington, 31.
Andrea Savin cruised to victory in the nine-hole stableford with 20, with Christine Buxton next best on 12.
An earlier women's stableford at Styal was led in by Helen Billington, 36, three more than Jane Gaskell.
The Friday Frolics at Styal had a busy leaderboard with
a cpo on 18 going to James Thomas from Mark Weekes, Charlie Thompson, Mike Roberts and Tom Ashworth.
Next day a stableford had Neil Taylor top of division one with 40 from Rob Sanderson, 39, and Mark Thompson topped division two with 39, one more than Charlie Thompson.
The Sunday stableford was won by Pierre Ravailhe, 40, from Roy McGlain, 39.
