KNUTSFORD FC extended their unbeaten run to six league matches on Saturday.
However, they had to come from behind to do it against a strong FC St Helens Reserves side at Manchester Road, with Joel Wilbraham’s goal securing a 1-1 draw.
A well-contested first half saw the visitors test Reds goalkeeper Dominic Smith twice before they eventually took the lead on the stroke of half time.
Harrison Woolley conceded possession at left-back, and St Helens capitalised to send Knutsford into the break behind.
However, their response after the interval was almost immediate and parity was restored within three minutes as Wilbraham rose well to powerfully head home Jonny Cavanagh’s corner.
The action continued to go end-to-end with Smith making another good save before Knutsford started to test the visitors out more.
Charlie Rodick headed a chance over the bar before creating an even better opportunity by producing a fine cross that found Patrick Draper, but he could only screw his shot wide.
Cavanagh and Greg Mathers then both cleared the bar either side of a big penalty shout for Reds that was waved away by the official, with substitute Nathan Jackson then having a pair of good chances later on.
Despite the best efforts of both sides, however, the game finished all-square and it means that while Knutsford remain second in Cheshire League One, they slip two points behind leaders Daten.
Reds are back in action on Saturday as they visit Congleton Town Reserves.
Knutsford FC: Smith, Wilbraham, Wooley, Maunder, Brotherton, Newman, Cavanagh, Mountney, Blades, Draper, Mathers. Subs used: Rodick, Jackson, Woodward, Butler
