LEADERS Michael Igoe and his co-driver Will Atkins headed to the coastal circuit of Anglesey looking to strengthen their position at the top of the 2024 Circuit Rally Championship.
After swapping their Fiesta R5 for the Citroen C3 Rally ll, the pair have been unbeatable.
Seeded number four, the Knutsford racer had a gaggle of Fiesta R5s all around him looking to get their own victory, but Igoe wasn’t going to take that and straight out of the blocks he was absolutely flying.
The first stage featured championship rivals Griffiths and Morrison putting the pressure on, along with Hughes and Cunliffe, also in a Fiesta R5.
With six stages planned for the day and the rain staying away, Igoe and Atkins were increasing their lead on a circuit in great condition.
By stage four, the number four Citroen C3 had a decent lead but Igoe couldn’t relax as the speed and commitment of the multiple Fiestas around them was brilliant to watch.
Igoe and Atkins were showing their own speed and absolute precision and by the end of the day it was them who took yet another win.
The WPI Motorsport Team are in a great position going into the last few rounds and return to Donington in two weeks.
