THE winner of Sunday’s High Legh Robert Moffat Memorial 10K missed out on the course record by nine seconds.
Warrington Athletics Club’s master athlete Chris Stanford clocked 32mins 42secs, which is his second fastest time for the distance and sits him 15th in the UK rankings in the over 40s age group.
Other locals in the men’s top 10 were Jonathan Smith, Lymm Runners, third, 35.29; Paul Bagan, Cheshire Dragons, fourth and first in 40-49 category, 35.30; Mark Kirby, Wilmslow Running Club, seventh and third in 40-49, 36.56; Paul Hancock, South Cheshire Harriers, ninth and first in 50-59, 37.13; Phil Rowen, Lymm Runners, 10th and second in 50-59, 37.20.
In the women’s race, Wilmslow Running Club’s Nicola Reece was the winner and 17th overall in 38.39.
Following her were clubmate Rebecca Jackson, second and 21st overall, 39.07; Claire Demaine Farrell, Lymm Runners, third and 31st overall, 40.39; Georgina Walker, Lymm Runners, sixth and first in 40-49, 43.39; Susan Harrison, Wilmslow Running Club, seventh and second in 50-59, 43.57.
472 runners competed in the event organised by High Legh Community Association.
