KATIE Smith was selected as Knutsford’s Royal May Queen at the choosing ceremony tonight.
The 12-year-old was picked out of 27 girls who put themselves forward for the role.
“I was just really shocked when they said,” she told the Guardian at the ceremony just moments ago.
The choosing ceremony happened at 7pm, after the Knutsford Guardian’s paper went to press, at the Civic Centre in Toft Road.
More photographs and more details will appear on this website later tomorrow (Wednesday) and in the paper on Wednesday next week.
