A WOMAN living with motor neurone disease has created a recipe calendar to help support a charity.
Judy Hill, from Mottram St Andrew, who is cared for at home by Carefound Home Care, has always loved cooking and baking.
Despite her condition, which makes it difficult to use her hands and arms, she was determined to help the MND Association.
She decided to compile a Carer's Calendar, featuring recipes for people to try each month.
Ms Hill's carers, Yvonne Fletcher and Massy Garshasebi, helped her, sifting through her recipe books, some dating back to 1904, to select dishes.
They each chose two savoury and two sweet recipes, including photos to encourage home cooks.
All the dishes have been cooked, tested, and tasted by Ms Hill, with her granddaughter Ana cooking four recipes on her behalf.
Ms Hill said: "From very small beginnings when chatting to my carers, Massy and Yvonne, about parties I used to give, we moved on to trying some of the recipes from my old cookery books.
"We wondered whether others might enjoy tasting our favourite dishes too and so produced the Carer’s Calendar.
"Thank you for buying our calendar, and thus benefiting research into motor neurone disease.
"Massy, Yvonne, and I hope you have pleasure in preparing and eating some of the dishes we have suggested."
Shabz Khokar, head of supporter care at the MND Association, said: "We want to thank Judy, Massy, and Yvonne for everything they have done to put this calendar together - the recipes really do sound delicious."
"The money raised from the sale of this calendar will help us to support people living with MND and their families, while funding cutting edge research projects into potential new treatments for this devastating disease."
"Every penny will make a huge difference to the work we do and we couldn’t be more grateful."
The Carer's Calendar is priced at £8, with all proceeds going directly to the MND Association.
Copies can be ordered online or by contacting Carefound Home Care’s Wilmslow branch on 01625 326470.
