Northern is launching a recruitment drive to hire skilled engineers for train repair and maintenance.
The train operator has announced numerous roles are available at its train care centres in Leeds, Liverpool, and Manchester, with salaries reaching up to £50,320.
Northern is expanding its engineering team, who work tirelessly to maintain and upgrade more than 340 trains used to transport tens of millions of passengers across the North of England each year.
The company is recruiting maintenance engineers at Newton Heath TrainCare Centre in Greater Manchester, offering a starting salary of £49,681 annually.
There are also engineer roles available at Allerton TrainCare Centre in Merseyside, where salaries start at £37,740 but rise to £50,320 following the completion of a training course.
In West Yorkshire, the train operator is looking to fill engineer roles at the Neville Hill TrainCare Centre in Leeds, with a salary of £49,879.
Northern managing director Tricia Williams said: "We are recruiting talented engineers who can help us keep our fleet of trains running smoothly all year round for tens of millions of passengers.
"We are looking for people who can solve problems and carry out maintenance and repairs in a fast-paced environment while working as part of a team and adhering to strict safety regulations."
All prospective applicants must be over 18, possess a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3 in engineering, and live within a 45-minute drive of their desired depot.
Earlier this year, Newton Heath senior production manager for operations, Rebecca Prendergast, encouraged women to consider an "incredibly rewarding" career in engineering with Northern, saying they "shouldn’t wait for anyone to encourage them into it".
The company also welcomes people with military engineering experience, offering a "home away from home" on the railway.
Northern employs numerous individuals with military backgrounds, including those currently serving as reservists, utilising their skills and experience across various roles, and providing them the opportunity to work within a 'close-knit' team structure.
In 2021, Northern signed the Armed Forces Covenant, committing to supporting the employment of veterans and recognising military skills and qualifications across the business.
Anyone interested in a career with Northern can register for job alerts on their website.
Northern is the second-largest train operator in the UK, running 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
