LOVING tributes have been paid to a ‘one in a million’ grandad.

Fond memories have been shared by the family of Kenneth Hunt after he died aged 93.

The retired electrician worked at Ilfords in Mobberley and lived in Knutsford for more than 60 years.

Daughter Mary said: “I will never meet another man like him again.

“He was my hero, a true gentleman, my best friend.”

Grandson Chris Atkinson said: “My grandad was one in a million.

“I was so proud to call him my grandad “He lived such a wonderful life and was loved by many.”

Kenneth as a young boyKenneth as a young boy (Image: Supplied) Kenneth served with the Dragoon Guards and met General Bernard Montgomery, nicknamed ‘Monty’, after sailing on the Windrush boat to serve in Africa.

At the end of the Second World War, Kenneth returned to Catterick Garrison in Yorkshire to be ‘demobbed’.

Mary recalls one of his many amusing tales, saying: “He had trained there with Les Dawson and met up with him again.

“My dad had a great laugh about it because he never saw Les again and never got his suit back!”

Kenneth was born in Manchester and met his wife Sheila at a dance hall.

The couple were married for 68 years and had four children. Sheila sadly died in 2022.

Mary said: “He was heartbroken when she died.

“They loved holidays and used to go to Majorca three times a year.

“After he retired, he loved gardening, pottering about on his work bench in the garage.

“He was the most loving, caring, sincere man.

“I will miss him like mad.”

Kenneth’s funeral is at 12 noon on Thursday, November 28 at Vale Royal Crematorium.
