POLICE have confirmed that following searches in Pennington Flash and around Leigh, the body of a missing Cheshire woman has been found.
Officers said the woman, Jane Burton, was last seen in Walkers Drive, Leigh, around 2am yesterday morning, Tuesday, November 12.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and specialist officers are supporting her family at this difficult time.
Greater Manchester Police said: "Our thoughts remain with Jane's family and a file has now been passed to the coroner's office."
Jane was from the Cheshire area.
An appeal to trace her was made yesterday and an extensive number of police officers could be seen in the area, particularly around Pennington Flash.
Members of the public also joined in the search.
