AN animal sanctuary has issued an appeal to the public to help it reduce the number of stray cats and unwanted kittens.

Like many rescue centres, Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary, has found the number of cat and kitten adoptions is slow at present.

The sanctuary, in Newgate, neuters a large amount each year and has launched its 'Help Reduce Strays - Pay For A Spay' appeal for support with its neutering bill.

A spokeswoman for the charity said: "Wilmslow Animal Sanctuary has recently launched an appeal to try and reduce the large amount of unwanted kittens, which as usual is a huge problem for all rescues.

"In common with other rescues we are finding adoptions slow at present - even for kittens - which we feel is directly related to the cost of living crisis and ever increasing vets bills which are putting people off adopting.

"By helping us to spay as many cats and kittens as we can this will go a long way to reducing the amount of unwanted kittens we see and hopefully ease the situation.
