MID Cheshire towns have been named as some of the best places to live in the country.

Luxury lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos has published its 2025 list of the ‘Top 300 Best Places to Live’.

Cheshire is one of several new regions included in the annual list, designed to help those planning a move by highlighting places with the best schools, pubs and shopping.

Knutsford, Tarporley, and Wilmslow are just a few of the local areas to have made the cut.

Hero Brown, the founder of Muddy Stilettos, said: “When people decide to move, they’re searching for more than just a house - they want a home, a lifestyle that works for them and their family, and if they’re strategic, a long-term investment too.

“Our 2025 ‘Top 300 Best Places To Live’ guide will give them that extra reassurance they need to make their search easier in these difficult economic times.

“We’ve built our reputation on our first-hand knowledge of the most exciting, vibrant places to go and things to do outside London.

“Now, with London, Yorkshire and Cheshire added to the guide and new information added on important considerations such as nursery education and nearby culture, the 2025 list is a natural step for us to continue to expand our authority in this area.

“Combined with up to the minute listings of desirable properties, we think it’s a unique reference point in a turbulent yet hopefully resilient property market.”

Each entry in the list comes with a profile, detailing some of the local attractions, shops, schools and places to eat, as well as everything you need to know about the property market in the area.

Top places to live in Mid Cheshire 2025

Alderley Edge

David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo are just some of the heavyweight footballers to have made this corner of the Golden Triangle home.

Wander down its high street and you’ll see a lot of shiny fast cars and even shinier white teeth and, true to its reputation, there’s a lot of Champagne-quaffing and hair extension flicking.

But by god, it’s pretty. From its grand and handsome Victorian homes speckled around the centre, to its sweeps of farmland and legendary ‘Edge’.

Knutsford

Because it’s undeniably one of the prettiest town centres in Cheshire, where independent stores and creative restaurants are squirrelled away in its collection of Tudor, Georgian and Victorian buildings.

Where locals stomp through the vast green wilds of Tatton Park before warming up in a crumbly pub or escaping into the bucolic loveliness that surrounds Knutsford on all edges.

It’s pretty, it’s fun and it’s kinda cool.

Mobberley

So you’re looking for bone fide country living? For quirky festivals, wildflower-speckled meadows, proper cosy pubs and the sort of dreamy barn conversions and cottages that crop up on the BBC’s Escape to the Country?

When you want that dip-in, dip-out life, the village of Mobberley conjures country living with aplomb though with plenty of amenities right on your doorstep.

Tarporley

There’s a lot of love for Tarporley, thanks to its glorious Georgian-era high street, where locals grab green smoothies and strut from boutique to hair salon and back again.

It’s not completely shed its tweed and flat cap reputation, but life has moved on immeasurably for those seeking a proper country lifestyle with all the frills.

Wilmslow

Part of Cheshire’s glittering Golden Triangle along with Alderley Edge and Prestbury, Wilmslow’s reputation for WAGs, beauty treatments and Range Rovers is notorious.

Yet scratch away its polished veneer and you’ll discover a town with a thriving community spirit, where locals flit between the buzz of its centre and the calm of its rural surrounds.
