TWO men have been hit with £1,000 court penalties for failing to give police information to identify drivers suspected of committing an offence.

Craig Davenport, 46, of Alma Lane, Wilmslow and David Gregson, 41, of Rees Crescent, Holmes Chapel, were both found guilty of the offence at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on October 10.

Neither defendant was present in court when their case was being heard.

A police officer asked Davenport for information relating to the identity of the driver of a Land Rover on July 3, this year.

Gregson had been requested to provide the name of the driver of a Peugeot on July 9, this year.

The two drivers were alleged to have been guilty of an offence, the court heard.

Both defendants were fined £660 and ordered to pay £264 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

Their driving licences were also endorsed with six points.

Davenport and Gregson were both given until November 7 to pay their respective £1,014 court penalties.
