TRAFFIC has been released and one lane is closed following a single-vehicle crash.
Currently five-mile long queues of traffic are building on the northbound carriageway this morning, Monday.
This is following a crash involving one vehicle which took place between junction 18 Middlewich Road and junction 19 Knutsford.
The traffic was held from 9am but has now been released, with one lane still closed on the carriageway.
Cheshire Police has confirmed that police attended the scene at around 8.35am after receiving reports of a collision.
A spokesperson said: "The incident involves a black Fiat 500. There are no reports of any injuries and recovery work is underway."
Delays of up to one hour are to be expected according to National Highways.
