A MAN has been banned from driving ‘due to repeat offending’.

Brian Matthews, 64, of Hazelcroft Gardens, Alderley Edge, was charged with failing to give police information to identify a driver suspected of committing an offence.

The defendant was not present at Chester Magistrates’ Court when the case was heard on October 16.

A police officer had requested information relating to the identity of the driver of an Audi on May 14, this year.

The driver is alleged to have been guilty of an offence, the court heard.

Magistrates found the case proved after listening to the evidence.

Matthews was fined £660 and ordered to pay £264 victim surcharge and £110 costs.

The defendant was banned from the road for six months and his driving licence was endorsed with six points.

The disqualification was obligatory ‘due to repeat offending’, the court was told.

Matthews was given until November 20 to pay the £1,034 court penalty.
