POLICE are warning parents to adhere to parking restrictions after a near miss at a Knutsford school.

Officers say an accident almost happened on Tuesday, October 15, outside Bexton Primary School.

A spokesman for Knutsford police said: “Due to a near miss outside Bexton School, where a child was nearly hit by a vehicle, we ask parents and drivers to be more careful when dropping or picking up their children.

“Parking away from the school, then walking will considerably reduce the risk and keep everyone safe.”

Drivers say there have been several near misses near the school on Blackhill Lane as children dodge in between parked cars.

Parents are being reminded not to park illegally when they take children to and from school.

Parents say the problem is getting worse and took to social media to vent their fears.

One mum said: “That stretch of road is a nightmare for drivers and pedestrians alike, whatever their age, at pick up and drop off time.”

Another mum added: “We cycle the children to Bexton most mornings and rarely a morning goes by without some form of incident.

“The section all along the road by Bexton is increasingly more dangerous.

“I know the school is always concerned and trying to progress measures to improve safety including monitoring the roads themselves.

“What else can be done?”

One mum called for a crossing or a lollipop lady.

One man believes drivers breaking the law should be prosecuted.

He said: “How about you just enforce the law?

“Give each driver three points, it will stop overnight.

“Or does some kid have to die first?”
