A KNIFE amnesty is being held in Knutsford today, Thursday.

A bin will be available at the Welcome Café in Longridge from 11.30am to 1pm during a police surgery.

A spokesman for Knutsford police said: “The amnesty knives bin will be present for anyone to hand in any knives so they can be disposed of safely and with no questions asked.”

Any unwanted sharp instruments such as kitchen knives, tools, scissors, display knives and swords can be handed in.

The amnesty is being held to prevent dangerous weapons getting into the wrong hands.

Cheshire continues to have one of the lowest rates of knife-related crimes.
