A DRIVER who got behind the wheel while more than six times the legal drug limit has been banned from the roads.
Sarah Kiernan, of Longridge, Knutsford, admitted drug-driving at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on October 8.
The defendant had originally denied the offence and the case had been set for a three-hour trial on the day she changed her plea.
The 37-year-old was driving a VW Tiguan on Town Lane in Mobberley on Sunday, January 21, when she was caught by the police.
Subsequent tests revealed she was over the legal limit for a drug substance.
A blood test recorded 311µg/L of Benzoylecgonine, a breakdown product of cocaine, in her system.
The legal limit is 50µg/L.
Taking her guilty plea into consideration, magistrates disqualified Kiernan from driving for 12 months.
Disqualification is obligatory for drug-driving offences, the court heard.
Kiernan was also fined £120 and ordered to pay £120 costs and £48 victim surcharge.
The defendant asked for the sum to be deducted from her benefit payment.
Magistrates ordered the full court penalty of £288 to be paid in a lump sum within 14 days.
