A NEW wellbeing studio has opened in Knutsford.

Satya Sanctuary is a dream come true for Charlotte Montgomery who yearned to create a haven where everyone can feel relaxed.

The 32-year-old has been overwhelmed with support from her family and friends to open her new business on King Street.

Charlotte said: “It has been in my head for a long time, I planned everything out.

“To be able to do it in my home town is so special.

“The idea is I wanted to create a space where everyone feels free to be themselves and explore themselves.

“We live in a world that moves so quickly. There are so many demands on our energy, time and brain, it is difficult to achieve things.

“Satya Sanctuary is the culmination of every aspect of me, every lesson I’ve learnt and everything I wish had been there to support me along the way.”

Charlotte excelled at school gaining five A-levels at A* and went to university to study law.

“I did two years at law school but realised it wasn’t for me,” she said.

“I then trained as a beauty and holistic therapist and enjoyed life a lot more.

“I was more at peace with myself.”

Charlotte re-trained again during Covid as a yoga teacher and worked at a hotel as a spa manager.

She has been teaching yoga for several years and built up a loyal following of students.

Charlotte said: “Everything I have learnt across my career has all come together now.

“My mum, Tracey, brother Alex and uncle Tommy have all helped me to create my own studio.

“It’s very much a family affair.”

Charlotte and her team of instructors offer a full range of disciplines including hot and unheated yoga, Barre, Trapeze, Ashtanga, Yin, Hatha, pregnancy and post natal sessions.

More than 30 different classes cater for adults and children and can be tailor made to suit all abilities, from beginners to those with more experience.

In-house physios, nutritionists and holistic therapists are also available to offer advice.

Satya is one of the first studios in the North West to introduce Yogaboards, mat sized wooden boards domed underneath from side to side and back to back.

Charlotte said: “Yogaboards bring focus, strength and balance to your practice and are a fantastic way to take your practice to the next level.

“We are one of the few studios in the UK to have this class on offer.”

Free yoga sessions are being offered to young women aged 12-17, from October 28 to November 1 through a partnership with the Drop-in charity.

Any girls interested can book a class.

“Everyone will feel welcome here,” said Charlotte.

“We’re not having any mirrors.

“I was over 17 stone when I first started yoga. I was very self conscious and body conscious.

“It’s not supposed to be about how you look, but how you feel.

“We aim to help you find sanctuary in doing things that feel good.

“A lot of love, care and attention has gone into building this studio.

“I’ve had a lot of support from the town and local businesses.

“The kindness I have received has been truly overwhelming.”

An introduction pass for £50 allows people to try unlimited classes for one month.
