A CORONER is to investigate the death of a 99-year-old woman who was living in Wilmslow.
An inquest was formally opened at Warrington Coroner’s Court on Wednesday into the passing of Renee McCormick nee McNair.
A resident of Croftwood Care Ltd, on Hawthorn Street in Wilmslow, she died at Macclesfield Hospital on September 15, aged 99.
The court heard how Mrs McCormick was admitted to hospital from the care home she was living in.
A coroner officer requested that an inquest be opened due to the cause of death being related to pressure sores.
Mrs McCormick’s identity was confirmed by a staff nurse at Macclesfield Hospital.
It was also requested that the inquest be adjourned to allow for further work to be completed.
Victoria Davies, area coroner for Cheshire, said: “Given pressure sores in a care home, there is potential for an unnatural element to the cause of death.
“I therefore formally open an inquest and adjourn to December 20.”
There will be an internal review by the coroner on November 24.
