FIVE people have been hospitalised following a fire on the M6.
Crews were called to a car and caravan on fire on M6 northbound between junction 18 and 19, Knutsford, at around 9.05pm last night, Friday.
On arrival, firefighters found that the caravan and car were both well alight.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue said: "Breathing apparatus and hose reel jets were used by firefighters to extinguish the fire."
Five casualties were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and they were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The carriageway was closed while the incident was dealt with.
One fire engine from Lymm attended as well as one fire engine from Winsford and one fire engine from Northwich.
