A DANGEROUS driver has admitted to causing a ‘horrific incident’ that left a cyclist in a critical condition.

Seena Chacko, from Tabley Road in Handforth, has pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

It follows a crash in Handforth on Saturday (September 14), when 42-year-old Chacko was driving a blue Citroen C4 Grand Picasso along Wilmslow Road.

She collided with a cyclist, knocking her to the roadside near to The Bulls Head pub.

Chacko continued along the road, with the bike underneath the vehicle, before she was stopped by another motorist.

The cyclist, a 62-year-old woman, was treated at the scene by passers-by and then paramedics before being taken to hospital, where she remains in a ‘critical condition’ as of Tuesday morning (September 17).

Investigating officer Sergeant Russ Sime from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This was a horrific incident and shocking for those who witnessed it.

“I’d like to thank those who stopped the car, and those who gave the cyclist first aid while paramedics were called.

“Our thoughts remain with the family of the cyclist at this truly awful time.”

Chacko appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Monday (September 16) to face charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident, no licence and no insurance.

She admitted to all of the offences and is next due to appear at Chester Crown Court on October 21 to be sentenced.
