A KNUTSFORD perfumery has placed in the top 10 per cent of businesses on Tripadvisor.

Every year, the online company featuring user generated reviews gives awards to businesses, restaurants and destinations based on ratings left by customers and visitors over a 12-month period.

Pulse of Perfumery has received dozens of top reviews over the past 12 months with many customers travelling from far afield to shop in store.

It’s these five-star reviews that have secured Pulse of Perfumery a place in the Tripadvisor global top ten per cent for 2024.

Melanie Seddon and Peter Murray have been guiding customers and clients on a scented journey for the past 13 years.

Pulse of Perfumery has been in the centre of Knutsford since 2011 starting on Princess Street and moving to bigger premises on King Street in February 2022.

Peter said: “To be honest, we didn’t really look to Tripadvisor as we thought it was more focussed on hotels, restaurants and hospitality rather than little independent businesses like ours.

“So, as you can imagine the award was a massive surprise.

“We found out that many of our clients had posted reviews on Tripadvisor without us knowing and having received the award we learnt that it wasn’t all about the quantity of reviews, but the content of the reviews and their personal story of their experience at Pulse of Perfumery (POP).”

Perfume is what Peter and Melanie know best and what they have a huge passion for – it won them our Best Independent Shop or Business award in this year’s Best of 2024 for Mid Cheshire.

Visitors to their Knutsford shop are full of praise for the business travelling from the midlands, Cornwall and Edinburgh.

A soon-to-be-married couple called in at POP en route to Manchester airport, where they would be flying out to exchange wedding vows in Mauritius.

Griff and Tracey planned a trip to the perfumery to choose their wedding fragrances.

Customers say POP is a “hidden gem”, “one of Knutsford’s highlights not to be missed” and “it’s more than a shop, it’s an experience”.

Peter said: “Our clients, new or existing, are fascinated with the level of service and share their reviews of the business.

“All the team at POP have the ability to share exceptional knowledge of product and understand what our clients are looking for.

“Our senior team has a wealth of knowledge that we share with our clients and teach any new recruits the art of perfumery and of course customer service to POP high standards.

“Being in the industry for more than 40 years and really knowing the UK market, we are very much aware that the service we provide on a daily basis and since the day we opened is second to none.

“We believe this wholeheartedly and if we continue to provide the same service today as we did yesterday and then the same tomorrow we know that our regular customers will return, word of mouth will encourage more people to enquire about our service and visitors will become clients.

“Clients that continue to use POP, that may travel significant distances to get here and take time out of their day, do so because the way we look after our clients is something that generally they have never experienced.

“Our team are all passionate, incredibly knowledgeable with high expertise, honest and caring.

“We have had a strap line since the day we opened our door to the public in 2011 - Pulse of Perfumery does not sell fragrance, our clients discover it.

“This is as true today as it was 13 years ago.”
