A DRIVER clocked speeding on the M6 has been hit with a £700 fine.
The case against Gabin Fernandez Macrae, of Shaw Drive, Knutsford, was heard at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on August 28.
The 44-year-old was caught on an automatic camera speeding on the M6 northbound at Bradwell between junctions 17 and 18 at 3.46pm on June 4, this year.
The defendant was clocked speeding at 66mph whilst driving a Hyundai during a section of the motorway where a 40mph variable speed limit was in place, the court was told.
After listening to the evidence, magistrates found the case proved.
Macrae, who was not in court for the hearing, was fined £500 and ordered to pay £200 victim surcharge and £90 costs.
His driving licence was also endorsed with six points.
The defendant was given until September 26 to pay the £790 court penalty.
