A CHARITY that supports a wide variety of community activities is looking for new members.

Knutsford and District Lions Club is inviting people to a drop-in evening to find out more about their diverse work.

The charity hosts a community fair and dog show at The Heath every summer.

On Christmas Day, members also serve a traditional three-course roast dinner, prepared by a team of volunteers.

The Lions also help people struggling to make ends meet through their ‘Wenceslas Project’.

This helps families and individuals facing any kind of financial hardship to keep warm.

To learn more about their work, an open evening is being held in the Lord Eldon pub, Tatton Street on Wednesday, September 25, from 7.30pm to 9pm.

People will be able to chat with club members about the charity.

President Paul Buttrick said: “We are a small friendly club with a wide variety of community activities.

“Because of this, people may not know about us, as other charities tend to be focussed on one particular good cause.

“We are looking to attract people who would like to become more involved in the local community, as well as getting satisfaction and fun from meeting like-minded people.

“We would welcome men and women of all ages, people who are ‘empty nesters’ or recently retired may be particularly interested.

“We are grateful to the Lord Eldon for allowing us to use their premises for this event.

“As with all organisations, we need to attract new members so we can continue our community activities in our area.”

All are welcome.
