A MAN has been banned from driving and hit with a £1,000 court penalty for failing to give police information to identify a driver suspected of committing an offence.

Nicholas Baker, 34, of Chelford Road, Marthall, Knutsford, was found guilty of the offence at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on August 28.

A police officer had requested information relating to the identity of the driver of a Mercedes on March 28, this year.

The driver was alleged to have been guilty of an offence, the court heard.

Baker was fined £660 and ordered to pay £264 victim surcharge and £110 costs.

The defendant was also banned from the road for six months and his driving licence was endorsed with six points.

The disqualification was obligatory ‘due to repeat offending’, the court was told.

Baker was given until September 28 to pay the £1,034 court penalty.
