STUDENTS at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School have been praised after attaining ‘outstanding’ GCSE results.

More than three quarters of all students achieved a good or better pass in both English and maths.

Some 60 per cent gained a grade 5 to 9 in all subjects with the figure rising to 75 per cent for grades 4 to 9.

Executive headteacher Nigel Bielby said: “Results day is one of the busiest and most important days in the school calendar.

“Today we will be sharing the results of the 225 students who graduate high school and move on to a range of exciting opportunities in education, training and employment.

“The results today are outstanding and a real reflection of how hard each and everyone of our students have worked over the past five years.

“At the top end of the grade scale, our students achieved 93 separate grade 9s and 186 or 25 per cent of all grades are in the highest range of 7,8 and 9.

“All grades 5,6, 7, 8, and 9s are up on last year showing just how well our year 11 students have done.

“Many of our staff have taken time out of their summer break to be here this morning to celebrate with students and to help them to work out their next steps.

“I want to send out a massive congratulations and well done to everyone”
