A BUZZ of excitement filled Knutsford Academy as GCSE students opened their big white envelopes.
Amid cries of excitement, pupils hugged each other and jumped for joy as they achieved grades much higher than they expected.
The school on Bexton Road, part of The Learning Partnership, is celebrating ‘outstanding’ achievements.

Headteacher Karen Key said: "I am absolutely thrilled with the results this year.
“Our students have worked exceptionally hard.
"These results are testament to their resilience and determination, as well as the outstanding teaching and support provided by our highly qualified staff.
"We are committed to providing an environment where every student can thrive. I am so proud of what our students have accomplished."
Knutsford Academy pupil Zara Bowes achieved a phenomenal nine grade 9s and one 8!
She said: "It went pretty well, I did a lot of revision."
Proud mum Claire said: "She worked so hard. She was very committed and knew what she wanted to do."
Head of maths Alison McGeehan said: "Zara did amazingly well. She got 158 out of 160 in further maths, among the top marks in the country!"
Zara, who plays football, plans to study maths, PE and biology at A-level.
Harrison Fisher gained 9s in maths and physics, and 8s in further maths and chemistry, among his 10 GCSEs.
He said: "I'm lost for words. I don't know what to say."
Lucas Reynolds who received two 9s and five 8s, among 10 top results, said: "I'm really happy. I did work hard. I'm very pleased it came off."
Macy Naylor is thrilled after gaining six 9s and four 8s.
She said: "I'm really happy. I worked hard and it was worth all the effort."
She plans to study psychology, criminology, textiles, and law at A-level, and hopes to work in psychology, possibly in a prison.
Eilidh Munro got a 9 in design and an 8 in English literature among a set of good results.
She said: "I'm shocked and really happy. I built a bridge and a cabin as part of my exam and hope to work in 3D design."
Sofina Quirk gained a 9 in media among a clutch of excellent results and plans to study psychology, sociology and media at A-level.
She said: "I'm excited and very happy."
Alfie Taggart is delighted to gain 10 GCSEs, including a 9 in maths.
Ella Brodie achieved nine including a 9 in English literature.
Ruby Ellis achieved four grade 9s among her nine GCSEs.
Leah Murphy is overjoyed to get a 9 in chemistry and nine other top grades.
Leah, who plans to study A-levels in chemistry, biology, maths and PE, said: "I want to be a vet."
She celebrated with her friend Isla McDonagh, who got an 8. She said: "It's a big relief."
Isobel Quigley is thrilled to get a 9 in English literature. She said: "I'm so happy. I hope to do something in medicine."
Isobel, who achieved 10, including three 8s, hopes to study chemistry, biology, and geography at A-level.
Hannah Hope, who got 10, including a 9 in chemistry, said: "I'm pretty proud."
Musician Toby Hui, who plays the guitar, piano, drums, and bass, gained 10, including a 9 in music and maths.
He said: "I hope to study music drama, musical theatre and maths at A-level."
Identical twins Adam and Robert Wadsworth are celebrating success.
The pair, who say people often get them mixed up, are 'really happy' with their results.
The brothers have chosen to study the same A-levels, maths, economics, business and further maths.

Amy Judge is on cloud nine after gaining a 9 in dance among a set of great results.
She said: "I'm really happy. I love dancing. It makes you feel so happy."
Amy plans to study dance, Spanish, and business at A-level.
She has performed in lots of West End musicals at school including Matilda, Les Mis, Frozen and Chicago. She also rehearses at The Lowry.
Catriona Millson, chairman of governors, said: “I’m very proud of all our students.
“We celebrate the achievements of each individual.
“It’s not all about getting the top grades, we encourage every student to reach their full potential and fulfil their own dreams.”
