TRAVELLERS have been told to leave a supermarket car park.
Four caravans set up camp outside Sainsbury’s in Wilmslow on Wednesday night (August 21).
It is understood that bailiffs are due to serve the group a notice instructing them to leave the area.
A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: “The council has received reports of an unauthorised encampment of caravans at Sainsbury’s car park, in Wilmslow.
“As this is private land, our officers have been in contact with the landowner to offer advice and support.
“Bailiffs, on behalf of the landowner, have now been instructed to attend and serve notice on the group to vacate the land.
“Reports of unauthorised encampments can be logged on the Cheshire West and Chester website (which coordinates such reports for all of Cheshire) or using the email address gypsyandtravellersenquiries@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk.”
Cheshire Police officers have been down to the scene and spoken with those present.
A spokesperson for the force said: “At around 7.37pm on Wednesday, police were called to reports of a number of caravans on land off of Alderley Road, Wilmslow.
“Officers attended the site, where there are approximately four caravans, and spoke to those present.
“Officers are continuing to provide passing attention to the site.”
