A HEALTH and wellbeing coach is off to university to develop her career.

Kate Bowers has led fitness classes in Goostrey, Twemlow and Holmes Chapel to restore confidence in people at risk of falls.

The 25-year-old has been running Stand Strong classes for two years after studying at Salford University.

The coach is now returning to gain her masters in sports nutrition at Liverpool University.

People who attend the class at Goostrey village hall on Mondays presented a farewell gift to thank her for all her help and support.

Kate has kept people on their feet with regular exercise at various classes sponsored by Cheshire East Council.

GPs and physiotherapists refer mainly elderly patients suffering constant falls because of the inability to walk due to age or infirmity and suffer injuries as a result of falls.

The courses run for 28 weeks.

The gentle exercise programme is suitable for anyone over 65, who is looking to improve strength, balance and mobility.

The simple exercises are designed for older adults and are adaptable to match all abilities and circumstances.

Most of them can be done seated if required.

Kate, who moved with her family from Over Peover to live in Goostrey, begins her studies for the masters in September.

Gaynor Smith, from Knutsford, is the new Goostrey coach.
