AN award-winning restaurant that trains women in prison for careers in hospitality is welcoming visitors.

The Clink Restaurant at HMP Styal is holding its first community open day on Saturday, September 7.

People will be able to take part in non-alcohol mixology demonstrations and pasta making masterclasses.

Games, crafts and activities will take place throughout the day to entertain children.

The Clink Charity is inviting local residents to come and see the restaurant, meet students and staff and discover how the operation is run.

The restaurant will also be launching a new menu and guests will be able to taste samples..

The Clink at Styal was recently named Cheshire Restaurant of the Year at the Cheshire Life Food and Drink Awards and is consistently rated as #1 on TripAdvisor.

The air-conditioned restaurant is housed in a former chapel just outside Styal prison’s gate.

Brunches, small plates, afternoon teas, Sunday lunches, evening dinners and a children’s menu will be available.

The restaurant can also be booked exclusively for business meetings or celebrations.

The Clink employs women on day release from HMP Styal, enabling them to both acquire qualifications, reintegrate into the community and rebuild their lives.

The restaurant has trained more than 100 women for careers in hospitality, offering industry qualifications in both professional cookery and front of house service.
