FAIRGROUND rides turned a summer fair into a vibrant festival.
Egerton Primary School attracted record crowds to their annual fundraiser renamed Party in the Playground.
New headteacher Caroline Lowe, appointed in September, said, “When we started planning this year’s summer fair, I wanted it to be different than a normal summer fair, more like a festival, something that everyone could enjoy and remember.

“Seeing all the children having such a fantastic time, despite the rain, has been incredibly rewarding.
“I am immensely grateful to our wonderful staff and the PTA who worked tirelessly to organise this event.
“Their dedication and hard work have truly paid off.
“I also need to mention local companies who donated such fabulous prizes for our raffle.
“A big thank you to all the families who attended and made this day special, because without their support the event wouldn’t have been so successful.”
The mayor of Knutsford opened the event.
Cllr Colin Banks said: “It’s wonderful to see our local school putting together such an engaging and enjoyable event for everyone.
“The new format is a fantastic addition and I’m delighted to be here to witness the joy it brings to our children and their families.”
A variety of attractions kept everyone entertained.
Children enjoyed unlimited access to the rides and inflatables throughout the afternoon.
Traditional fair games including bottle bola and a penalty shoot-out.
A saxophonist performed a selection of tunes and DJ Pete Deane, a parent at the school, created a festival atmosphere with plenty of upbeat music.
Dads teamed up to run the bar and parents organised a barbecue.
Enterprising Year 4 pupil Eliza Bishop won acclaim for her homemade earring stall.
The mayor presented awards to the winners of the Design a Perfect Park competition.
Cllr Banks said: “It’s inspiring to see such creativity and thoughtfulness in these designs.
“Each entry showed a deep understanding of community and environmental needs and I am sure these students have bright futures ahead.”
After months of meticulous planning and community involvement, parents, staff and pupils hailed the new look event a resounding success.
Egerton mum Danica Tweedie said: “The new format of the summer fair was a great idea.
“The kids had so much fun with the rides and games, and it was a lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon.
“Kudos to the school for pulling off such a fantastic event.”
