CONGESTION is building along the M6 northbound following an accident.
One lane has been closed due to the accident which took place this afternoon, Wednesday (July 24).
It occurred between junction 20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) to junction 21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston).
The AA is reporting 'severe delays' of around 24 minutes. with queues of traffic forming all the way back to junction 19 for Knutsford.
National Highways expect the scene to clear by 4.45pm this afternoon.
