SUMMER arrived just in time today to welcome thousands of visitors to the opening of the RHS Flower Show at Tatton Park.

The five-day event is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and runs until Sunday, July 21.

Visitors enjoyed glorious sunshine roaming round colourful displays of stunning flowers and plants.

More than 50 of the finest nurseries from all over the country proudly displayed gold medals, following months of painstaking preparation.

Horticuturalists chatted to gardeners, sharing tips and plant knowledge.

Florists came up with innovative designs to raise awareness about various causes and health issues.

Children were challenged to create pocket-sized havens for biodiversity on a theme of ‘Grey to Green’.

Schools created plots jam packed with homegrown fruit and vegetables, using sustainable materials.

As the temperature rose, people were licking ice creams to keep cool whilst families enjoyed picnics beneath shady trees.

A home and lifestyle market made its debut with a collection of artisans and independent brands from fashion and homeware to jewellery and ceramics.

An array of food and drink suppliers provided plenty of ideas for gifts or tempting treats.

This is the last RHS Flower Show at Tatton until 2027 as it moves to new venues in the coming years.
