AN uninsured driver caught almost twice the legal limit has been banned from the road.

Samuel Obia, of Snapebrook Grove, Wilmslow, admitted having 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of his breath at Crewe Magistrates’ Court on July 8.

The legal limit is 35 micrograms of breath in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 31-year-old was caught over the limit whilst behind the wheel of a red Hyundai on Picton Drive in Wilmslow on May 31, this year.

Obia was banned from driving for 14 months.

This disqualification period could be reduced to 14 weeks if he completes a drink-driving rehabilitation course by April 1, 2025.

Obia was fined £383 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £153 victim surcharge.

The defendant also pleaded guilty to driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and without third party insurance on the same day.

Magistrates took his guilty pleas into account and did not impose any separate penalties.

His driving record was endorsed.

The defendant was granted permission to pay the £621 court penalty in monthly instalments of £200 starting on August 5.
