A MAN has been hit with a £400 court penalty for failing to give police information to identify a driver suspected of committing an offence.

Patrick Knight, 35, of Valley Drive, Handforth, Wilmslow, pleaded guilty to the offence at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on June 28.

A police officer had requested information relating to the identity of the driver of a Renault vehicle on January 18, this year.

The driver was alleged to have been guilty of an offence, the court heard.

Knight was fined £293 and ordered to pay £117 victim surcharge. No costs were levied.

His driving licence was also endorsed with six points.

Magistrates took the defendant’s guilty plea into account when imposing the sentence.

Knight was given until July 26 to pay the £410 court bill.
