DRIVERS are being warned of long delays on the M56 heading out towards Manchester Airport.
Traffic monitoring company Inrix is reporting a broken down vehicle on the eastbound carriageway is causing around three miles of congestion.
The congestion is backing up between junction 7, for Bowdon, and junction 6, at the Hale Four Seasons Roundabout.
An Inrix spokesman said: "One lane is closed and there is queuing traffic for three miles due to a broken down car on M56 Eastbound from J7 A556 Chester Road (Bowdon) to J6 A538 Wilmslow Road (Hale Four Seasons Roundabout).
"Travel time is around 15 minutes. Lane three (of three) is closed."
