AN annual beer festival has marked it 10th anniversary year by raising the biggest total in its history for charity.

The popular Knutsford Beer Festival took place at Egerton Place over three days in April earlier this year.

Crowds gathered to sample from the festival's biggest ever selection of ales while enjoying live music, with hot food also on offer.

The event is volunteer run and, after raising a whopping £13,000 from the 2024 edition, has now generated more than £62,000 for charity since launching 10 years ago.

Andrew Malloy, the Knutsford Beer Festival chairman, said: "Ten years ago, when we first started the beer festival, I would never have imagined we would go on to raise more than £62,000 for local charities.

"It is truly humbling to think of all the causes we have helped from our little beer festival.

"Thanks to ALL who have helped and supported us over the last 10 years. Here's to the next 10 years!"

Local project management consultancy TUKEA were the main sponsors of the event and, alongside local podcast studio, PODCASTR, also sponsored specially designed glasses to mark the occasion.

The two chosen charities, who have received £6,500 from the festival, were mental health organisation Stable Minds CIC and the Hope Central foodbank, which also offers debt management and community services.

Ian Robertson, of Hope Central, said: "It's wonderful to be part of a community which comes together to support those within it who are in need of help.

"Thank you so much to all at the Knutsford Beer Festival for the great event that they ran and for the money that they have raised to enable both Hope Central and Stable Minds to continue their work."

Stable Minds founder and CEO Milly Peel added: "I'm honestly still in shock. I literally don't have the words to thank the beer festival team enough.

"The funding of £6,500 will cover six sessions each to our current waiting list of 18 people.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you, this is so much more than money, it's a lifeline for people."

The beer festival will return next spring, with organisers already looking at suitable venues.
