THOUSANDS of bikers passed through Cheshire as part of a tribute to a much-loved TV chef.
A memorial motorcycle ride was held in memory of Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers, who passed away earlier this year aged 66.
Led by his co-star, Si King, the procession of motorbikes travelled from London to Dave’s hometown in Barrow-in-Furness on Saturday (June 8), stopping at Knutsford Services on the M6 along the way.
Speaking to the crowds after finishing the 300-mile ride, Si said: "I don't know where to begin. What a welcome from Barrow. Without you, the day would not have happened.
"Every single motorcyclist that's come into your community and town today - we've all been in tears. Not one dry eye.
“As we've come through, we've seen everybody on the over bridges, on the motorways, on the A590, it's just been unbelievable, so give yourself a massive round of applause - go on Barrow-in-Furness - come on!"
Upon arrival in Barrow-in-Furness, riders took part in the first ever Dave Day.
Organised by his friend Jason Woodcock, the day involved a music concert and a service of remembrance, raising money for the Institute of Cancer Research London and children’s charity, the NSPCC.
Dave’s widow, Lili Myers, told those in attendance: “I want to thank everyone who has made the effort to come today, some from Malaysia.
"Some of them really struggled in different ways to make their way here, but they did."
Lili added: "Some of us relate to what has happened to Dave and that is why they are here tonight.
"I've heard stories of people going through cancer and that kind of moves my heart because I know what that means because the past couple of years have been horrendous and we went through this together.
"But I want to say if you know a person who goes through that be their friend, be with them because that counts for a lot.
"I have so many amazing friends that have helped me go through what I've been through.
"So a big applause to those who helped Dave go through his illness.”
