A MAN has been hit with a £1,000 court penalty for failing to give police information to identify a driver suspected of committing an offence.

Ben Gedroge, 48, of Carr Lane, Alderley Edge, was found guilty of the offence at Warrington Magistrates’ Court on May 23.

A police officer had requested information relating to the identity of the driver of a Nissan vehicle on March 14, this year.

The driver was alleged to have been guilty of an offence, the court heard.

Gedroge was fined £660 and ordered to pay £264 victim surcharge and £90 costs.

His driving licence was also endorsed with six points.

Magistrates gave the defendant until July 18 to pay the £1,014 court bill.
