TAXIS in Knutsford have a new operator.
Silvertown Taxis recently took over Knutsford Taxis, becoming the largest private hire taxi company in Cheshire East in the process.
Having served Macclesfield for 35 years already, Silvertown is looking to continue expanding.
Accounts manager Bilal Hamid said: “We aim to grow and increase our fleet in the near future as we are already receiving requests from Alderley and Wilmslow so the organic growth will only improve our service for you.
“The acquisition of Knutsford Taxis was something that came at the right time as we were already planning on expanding into Chelford, Knutsford, Holmes Chapel and Lymm.
"So, it made sense to build on what Knutsford Taxis had already achieved in the area.”
Silvertown formally acquired Knutsford Taxis earlier this year - the fifth rival they have taken over in recent years.
It has been a relatively seamless transition and comes ahead of a busy summer, with many booking trips to Manchester Airport and events across the county.
Mr Hamid said: “We look forward to serving the community and encourage people to use local businesses and help local drivers remain in the trade.”
He continued: “We have had a great response from the local residents so far, with a huge influx of calls. From daily school runs, shopping trips to Aldi and Sainsbury’s, airport runs or people just into town for a coffee.
“We are now heading into wedding season and have already completed many group bookings including many reservations for minibuses along with one of our executive vehicles for the bride and groom!”
Silvertown offers a 24-hour service, with a manned call centre and a 'state-of-the-art' dispatch system.
All vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking software, meaning that passengers can be connected to their nearest available driver, cutting down on both wait times and the company’s carbon footprint.
Silvertown’s fleet, the largest in the county, includes saloons, minibuses and disabled access vehicles.
