The Goostrey teenagers, from Twemlow, each have to raise £4,330 to pay for the venture.

To launch their venture, they washed cars on Sunday.

So many people turned up at the Scout and Youth Centre that parents, grandparents and siblings were called in to help as there was a steady stream of vehicles  for five hours!

The girls are thrilled at how well the car wash went and want to thank everyone who turned out to support them.

Heidi, a year 10 pupil, and Lillie, who is in year 9, shared the £400 proceeds and have also set up separate GoFundMe pages online.

Heidi said: “This will be a four-week expedition and will include community development work, environmental projects and wildlife conservation.”

Lillie added: “It will also include learning traditional skills such as the native language and meeting the world-famous Massai tribe, as well as de-worming goats for the community.

“We will be building houses, schools and toilets, preventing elephant poaching and planting trees to restore biodiversity in Kenya.”

The girls are now asking local businesses to sponsor them with advertising and logos on their Camps International T-shirts.

Any firms interested can contact Heidi’s mum, Anna, on 07989 192770.
