A ROAD is closed following a crash.
Emergency services are at the scene of a crash on Knutsford Road in Holmes Chapel.
The crash, between a transit van and a Peugeot, happened just before 2pm and left two people with "serious" injuries.
They are now being treated by paramedics while the road remains shut for the time being.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 1.52pm on Tuesday, April 23, police were called to a collision on Knutsford Road, Holmes Chapel.
"Officers attended and found there had been a collision between a transit van and a Peugeot.
"Two people are believed to have sustained serious injuries and they are being treated by paramedics.
"The road has also been closed in both directions while officers manage the incident."
According to the AA, Knutsford Road is closed in both directions from Hawthorn Villas to Needham Drive.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service sent two engines to the scene, one each from the Holmes Chapel and Middlewich stations.
A CFRS spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended a two-vehicle road traffic collision involving two casualties on Knutsford Road, the area was closed while the incident was dealt with.
"One casualty was assessed and cared for by paramedics while firefighters worked to release them safely from the vehicle.
"The casualty was handed over to the care of North West Ambulance Service who transported them to hospital."
North West Ambulance Service has been contacted for further information.
