A NEWLY selected Labour candidate is confident he can oust sitting Tory Tatton MP Esther McVey and make history.
Ryan Jude was chosen to fight the seat following a hustings and vote of local Labour Party members on Saturday.
After achieving Labour’s first victory in a flagship London election, he is certain he can repeat his success here.

Ryan said: “Labour has never won in Tatton.
“Labour had never won Westminster City Council or the ward I now represent before I ran.
“My non-stop campaigning, convincing voters who had never voted Labour before to trust us, helped sweep the Conservatives out of their flagship council for the first time.
“Appealing to new Labour voters, showing them that things can be better than the mess created by the Conservatives, will be key to winning in Tatton.
“My experience delivering a historic victory in Westminster will help me do the same here.”
Ryan said he feels honoured to represent his home town.
“It is the privilege of my life to have been selected as Labour's Parliamentary candidate for Tatton,” he said.
“Growing up, I saw the impacts of Conservative policies on local families and services.
“Residents of Wilmslow, Knutsford, Lymm and everywhere across Tatton deserve better.
“I would campaign for increased NHS provision in Tatton, funding our schools properly and supporting high-quality housing developments.”
As the youngest-ever Cabinet Member in Westminster, he fought for local action on the climate crisis with the council recently ranked the top council in the country for climate action.
Ryan said: “I’ve pioneered the development of award-winning policies, such as mapping the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities to help target interventions and setting up climate citizens’ assemblies to involve residents in the transition.”
He has vowed to champion local communities.
Ryan said: “Growing up locally, I volunteered at local groups supporting young adults and children with disabilities, including my brother.
“After 14 years of Conservative governments, our local government and services are at breaking point.
“Councils face a funding gap of £4 billion over the next two years, with our local Tatton councils struggling.
“Cheshire East Council has had its budget cut by 63 per cent and being forced to find cuts.”
Ryan said he would campaign for ‘a fair funding deal’ for councils.
“I will fight to protect local provision currently at risk.
“I would champion local businesses in all our towns and villages, and help ensure Tatton’s high streets continue to thrive.
“Only Labour has a plan to help people through the cost of living crisis, fix our broken transport system and tackle NHS waiting lists.”
Gemma Southern, chairman of Tatton Constituency Labour Party, said: "Ryan is an outstanding choice for Tatton.
“He brings a wealth of policy experience as a nationally-recognised environmental policy expert, and a track record of delivering for residents as a councillor and cabinet member.
“Ryan grew up here and knows the local issues inside and out.
“He will be the voice that Tatton needs to take on Esther McVey and deliver for Tatton's constituents on the issues most important to them.
“Only Labour can beat the Conservatives in Tatton."
